Sing-Along Messiah and Holiday Fair

Holiday Craft Fair 6 - 9:30 PM (setup begins at 4 pm!)

Arrange in advance with the Fair Coordinators to donate your own quality handmade items and delicious baked goods to the Fair (pre-wrapped and priced). All proceeds support SFCC all year long.

Then visit the Fair in the Fireside Room to see what others have brought to get a head start on your holiday gifts! Free admission.

Messiah Sing-Along 7 PM

Lift your spirits with a rousing sing-along of this perennial holiday favorite. Join us in singing the choruses--and solos, too--accompanied by an all-volunteer chamber orchestra who are dedicated to doing this every year.

Admission to the Messiah Sing-Along is $15 (yes, for chorus members too): tickets available at the door. Bring your own score, or borrow one of ours.

Service for Maria Solis

  • First Unitarian Universalist Church (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

The Service is at 1 pm; the Call Time is 12 noon, in Rear Balcony Choir Loft—where you can see the organ pipes if you go into the Sanctuary. The entrance is on the right, immediately after entering the Sanctuary from the Main Lobby, Long winding staircase: take your time. Top of the Staircase: Go through the RIGHT HAND DOOR. Be very careful negotiating the steps of the choir loft

We will combine forces with the Unitarian Universalist Choir, and their director Mark Sumner. He and Larry have agreed to combine our small vocal forces in order to offer a much better tribute to Maria.  We'll be doing the Lacrymosa from the Mozart Requiem, and the Sanctus from the Lord Nelson Mass.

Suggested Dress: muted colors or black.

Reception: Maria’s family asks attendees at the service to bring food or flowers to the reception.

Parking

  1. Street parking on Franklin Street: metered, be careful of time limits. UU Underground Parking Garage: not recommended because of different church functions happening at the same time. However, if you try it, get in FAR LEFT LANE of Starr King Street (curved 1-way street between Gough and Franklin). Entrance almost at Franklin Street: may seem like you missed it. TURN LEFT into descending driveway, STOP just before the gate (it may seem like you’re too close, but you’re not). GATE will swing out; you drive in…and good luck.

  2. St. Mary’s Cathedral [corner of Gough and Geary; 1 block from the UU]. TURN RIGHT from Geary onto Gough Street, which is One-Way, Immediately get in RIGHT HAND LANE: there are 2 entrances, Be alert for tour buses, reserved spots and people walking

  3. ABM Parking Lot: PAID Parking. Entrance on Gough Street from LEFT HAND LANE, across from St. Mary’s.

The date of this first Combined Rehearsal was moved; this is the new date.

Note this earlier start and extended end time compared to other Calvary rehearsals.

COME EARLY: parking is limited. Several bus lines go directly there.

Feel free to bring snacks or drinks to add to what the refreshment coordinators for each chorus are bringing.
